Christianity, Beautiful and Joyous

Is my heart sleeping?
No. My heart isn’t sleeping.
It is awake, awake.
It neither sleeps nor dreams, it looks,
with clear open eyes
at far off signs and listens
at the shore of the great silence.

- Antonio Machado (Spanish)

Well, it's nice to know that someone has been reading the extremely long posts I've put up recently.

Yes, my mom practices Santeria. She tries to involve my sister and I in it; went to the extent of buying us the initiation rite, chicken blood and all. I'm not joking about the chicken blood, it reeks. The initiation was a few years ago. Since then, I've been on a careful look out for all her santeria/idol worship and been trying to keep it as far away from me as possible, which is difficult to do since I am a commuter, and live at home with my parents.

As for the cult, I left it in Oct 2004 and I lost my faith. I have only begun believing since August 2005. The cult adulterated the Bible, and then in an ironic twist discredited the Catholic Church for changing the Bible. Their leader, Watchman Nee, was jailed in 1970 China, but he left his follower Witness Lee information about the changed version of the Bible he had created (Recovery Version). They believe that the more baptisms you have the better off you are; you can't just believe in God, but into God; you can be saved by calling on the name of the Lord, so we would call out "O Lord Jesus" seven times, and the louder the better; that they were the only true way to God; etc.

I was only with them for 8 months, but it was enough for me to be spending more than 8 hours a week with them, and since I'm a commuter that meant my weeks consisted of Bible Study, commuting, and my classes. I lost my faith in Oct 2004 two weeks after I left the Local Church.

They have a lot of names: Living Stream Ministry, the Local Church, the Local Church of Witness Lee, the Local Church in Los Angeles, the Church in Los Angeles, and a few others I have forgotten.
